Glenn Doty is a happily married man, his wife claims. (Who he let write his “About” page.) He spent nearly a decade in college and loved every minute of it. Even after a decade and a half out of college he is still friends with his professors. Professionally, Glenn touts his occupation as a “Proud Product of Nepotism.” He works for a small science and energy business owned by his father. He is the employee his parents make appear from family loyalty peppered with occasional guilt. His job spans everything from energy market analysis, to laboratory work, editing patents and grant proposals to engineering on COMSOL. In general, we are both proud of what he does.
Glenn has proudly been involved in politics in either a voluntary or professional manner since he was 16. His intellectual investment in public policy has bordered on obsessive. Glenn calls himself a wonk. He has devoted tens of thousands of hours to learning and understanding policies and social issues. This is one of the many reasons he is awesome and I believe he has something to share. Glenn and I live in South Carolina with our two dogs.
In his leisure time Glenn is devoted to family and friends. He is an avid reader and a weekend game player. We are trying to sample the highest rated games on boardgamegeek.com. Glenn sings in the choir at church. He is always willing to lend a hand and help a friend.
Glenn and I have been toying with the idea of a blog for years. Apparently that’s how long it takes to let a good idea stew. He has longed for a haven for intelligent conversation with people who are both trying to enhance their understanding and state their stance. Modern political discourse has devolved into something far more childish. Hopefully, if we build it, you will come. We hope you enjoy reading it. Please comment and be a part of our new project and encourage others like you to speak out. The more voices that contribute the more life it has.
